A Game of NBA Chess
This is the time of year where NBA teams unleash there strategic side, You have your Kings…the Owners….you have your Bishops….the General Managers…..the Knights…..the agents…….the rooks…..the free-agent ( his job is to just stand there look good and don’t get into any trouble in the off-season)……and the Pawns….. well that’s us the fans we get caught up in all the trades and all the free-agent signings, it gets your hopes up for next season…(unless you live here in Seattle)……this off-season some intresting moves have been made
The Lakers ………they picked up Ron “Charlie 2 Face”Artest, and basically say good-bye to Trevor Ariza, this is power move by the Lakers, they really beef up on defense……..but let’s remember we are talking about Ron Artest you don’t know what the big bright lights of L.A. will do to him.
The Celtics………They are rumored to be courting Rasheed Wallace, apparently The Big Three,Doc Rivers, and Danny Ainge all attended a meeting to entice Rasheed to come to Boston…..another power move by the Celtics, if Rasheed has a good time in Boston it could entice certain future free-agents(from Detroit) to come and play and have a chance to earn a ring.
The Cavaliers……..They picked up Shaq and are looking to conquer the East, some would say that it’s a risky move because of chemistry issues……..Shaq might want to choreograph some routines but isn’t that LeBron’s job??……..what if Delonte & Mo get jealous because LeBron is spending more time with Shaq???
The Pistons…….Joe Dumars made some serious noise when he signed free-agents Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva, to join the Pistons, this gives the Pistons a nice team, but once again it takes time for guys to gel and establish chemistry……and let’s not forget at the time of this post Detroit still doesn’t have a coach.
Kobe doesn’t need Diesel he has Gasol….. Lakers win 15th Title!!
The Los Angeles Lakers complete the quest for the NBA Championship and take the series from Orlando 4-1 with a 99-86 victory. Kobe Bryant scored 30, Lamar Odom who had some spectacular plays during the game, added 17 pts, no one for Orlando had more than 18 points, Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard only had 11 points to end a very disappointing Finals run. The key to the game was in the second quarter when the Lakers went on a 16-2 run to put the game out of reach, they outscored Orlando 30-18 in that quarter and that proved to be the deciding factor in the game.
Derek Fisher & Kobe Bryant join Shaq & Tim Duncan as the only active players with 4 rings, L.A coach Phil Jackson collected his 10th ring as a coach and 12th ring overall as coach/player, he surpasses the legendary Red Auerbach as NBA Finals winningest coach.
This win gives the Lakers 4 titles during this decade making them the team of the decade, check out the rings of previous Lakers Championships.
