Big Boys do Battle Last Night

In the final moments, Paul Pierce stepped back and knocked down a beautiful fadeaway jumper over Amare Stoudemire to give the C’s a 118-116 edge with four-tenths of a second left, just as coach Doc Rivers had drawn it up.

Knicks mastermind Mike D’Antoni had time for one more play — and sure enough, he got the ball to his star for one last shot at a game-winner. Stoudemire, who’d scored 39 points, swished a three at the buzzer, but it was a split-second too late.

Both teams got brilliant clutch shots from their brilliant clutch shooters. Only one counted, and the Celtics eked out a win, extending their streak to 11 games.

They don’t get much closer than that……Pierce was 10 of 18 from the field and 10 of 10 from the line. He had 10 rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Spurs 92, Bucks 90

Manu Ginobili hit a fallaway jumper as time expired, lifting the San Antonio Spurs over the Milwaukee Bucks 92-90 on Wednesday night. Ginobili scored the last of his 26 points on a 17-footer from the left elbow over the outstretched arm of Luc Mbah a Moute, who missed a shot that would have given Milwaukee the lead seconds earlier. The Spurs improved their NBA-best record to 21-3 and stayed unbeaten against Eastern Conference teams.

Celtics Future

Doc Rivers says that center Rasheed Wallace is probably going to retire…Wallace has two years left on the contract he signed with Boston last year….if Wallace retires he would finish with 15,860 points and 7,321 rebounds in a 15-year career….. He was also the most ejected player of his era, with 30 ejections since such records started being kept in 1992.….He played with four teams, winning the NBA title with the Pistons in 2004.…..Boston has 7 unrestricted free agents….Ray & Tony Allen will be re-signed but the other 5 below won’t

Rasheed Wallace,Brain Scalabrine,Shelden Williams,Michael Finley and Marquis Daniels….so let’s look at the big picture can the Celtics make one more run….of course but it really depends on the type of role players that Danny Ainge & Doc Rivers (if he returns) agree on, could they sign one of the big free-agents available….it’s highly unlikely, but in this day and age of mega trades you never know what will take place, The late emergence of Nate Robinson gives the Celtics some hope off of the bench, now if they can find some key pieces on the free-agent market, the Celtics can win the East again, remember this team was hit by injuries, called old, and still took the defending champs to a 7th game….and almost won it all….the Celts’ will be back for another run….Personally I think the Celtics should go after Rudy Gay,David Lee,& some size off of the bench…maybe a Brad Miller or Udonis Haslem

A Game of NBA Chess

This is the time of year where NBA teams unleash there strategic side, You have your Kings…the Owners….you have your Bishops….the General Managers…..the Knights…..the agents…….the rooks…..the free-agent ( his job is to just stand there look good and don’t get into any trouble in the off-season)……and the Pawns….. well that’s us the fans we get caught up in all the trades and all the free-agent signings, it gets your hopes up for next season…(unless you live here in Seattle)……this off-season some intresting moves have been made

The Lakers ………they picked up  Ron “Charlie 2 Face”Artest, and basically say good-bye to Trevor Ariza, this is power move by the Lakers, they really beef up on defense……..but let’s remember we are talking about Ron Artest you don’t know what the big bright lights of L.A. will do to him.

The Celtics………They are rumored to be courting Rasheed Wallace, apparently The Big Three,Doc Rivers, and Danny Ainge all attended a meeting to entice Rasheed to come to Boston…..another power move by the Celtics, if Rasheed has a good time in Boston it could entice certain future free-agents(from Detroit) to come and play and have a chance to earn a ring.

The Cavaliers……..They picked up Shaq and are looking to conquer the East, some would say that it’s a risky move because of chemistry issues……..Shaq might want to choreograph some routines but isn’t that LeBron’s job??……..what if  Delonte & Mo get jealous because LeBron is spending more time with Shaq???

The Pistons…….Joe Dumars made some serious noise when he signed free-agents Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva, to join the Pistons, this gives the Pistons a nice team, but once again it takes time for guys to gel and establish chemistry……and let’s not forget at the time of this post Detroit still doesn’t have a coach.
