Mike Vick gets paid….again

Michael Vick is really back on top now..….Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed on a six-year contract on Monday that again makes the Pro Bowl quarterback one of the highest-paid players in the NFL.

A source familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press the deal is worth $100 million, including about $40 million guaranteed. The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because terms weren’t released.

Vick has come a long way since spending 18 months in federal prison on dogfighting charges. He led the Eagles to the NFC East title last year, was the starting quarterback in the Pro Bowl and was the AP Comeback Player of the Year….Vick was due to earn slightly more than $16 million this season after the Eagles designated him the franchise player in February. He’ll make a little less, possibly giving the Eagles salary cap flexibility to give Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson an extension….Vick guided the Eagles to an 8-3 record in 11 games as a starter in his first season playing full-time since 2006. He set career highs in yards passing (3,018), touchdowns passing (21), touchdowns rushing (9), completion percentage (62.6) and passer rating (100.2). Vick also rushed for 676 yards.

It ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none…..

Oh LeeeBron..I want to play in Miami too!

Zydrunas Ilgauskas is joining up with LeBron James in Miami to play for the Heat… Ilgauskas will accept a one-year deal, though his preference is a multi-year deal…Ilgauskas is the Cavs’ career leader in games played, blocked shots and rebounds. The 7-foot-3 Lithuanian was drafted by the club in 1996 and overcame serious foot injuries that nearly ended his career….Playing as a reserve for the first time, Ilgauskas averaged 7.4 points and 5.4 rebounds last season….. for his career, Ilgauskas has averaged 13.8 points and 7.7 rebounds, plus has played in two All-Star games….he is immensely popular in Cleveland, and expects to keep a home in the city…..hmm… I wonder if Dan Gilbert is going to rip him in an open letter???

David “gets” Stern

…..So what does David Stern have to say about the decision  LeBron James made last week…..Speaking from Las Vegas, where the league’s owners met Monday, Stern said he would have strongly advised James to tell the Cavaliers of his choice to leave for the Miami Heat much earlier than when it actually took place…. and that the two-time MVP shouldn’t have made the announcement in a made-for-TV special.

”Ill-conceived,” Stern said……”Our players, having negotiated for the right to be free agents at some point in their career, they are totally within their rights to seek employment with any other team,” Stern said. ”That’s something we all agreed to. That’s something we embrace. That’s our system.”….Stern said James was ”entitled” to make his move to South Florida…..but….but …wait there’s more….Stern went on to talk about Dan Gilbert and his comments….Gilbert released a sharp-tongued statement and called James’s decision ”narcissistic” and ”cowardly behavior.” Later, Gilbert told The Associated Press in a phone interview that he felt James quit on the Cavs during the playoffs the past two years, and that he ”has gotten a free pass.”….”He was completely correct in expressing his disappointment,” Stern said, adding that Gilbert’s statement and the sentiments he expressed in a follow-up interview with the AP was ”a little bit extreme.”……okay this is the best part….Those remarks weren’t free…..Commisioner Stern said he was fining the Cavaliers $100,000 for those words

Dan "Mr. Plantation" Gilbert"

Dan Gilbert Rips LeBron…..

Dear Cleveland, All Of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become. But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day….

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue….

Dan Gilbert

A Game of NBA Chess

This is the time of year where NBA teams unleash there strategic side, You have your Kings…the Owners….you have your Bishops….the General Managers…..the Knights…..the agents…….the rooks…..the free-agent ( his job is to just stand there look good and don’t get into any trouble in the off-season)……and the Pawns….. well that’s us the fans we get caught up in all the trades and all the free-agent signings, it gets your hopes up for next season…(unless you live here in Seattle)……this off-season some intresting moves have been made

The Lakers ………they picked up  Ron “Charlie 2 Face”Artest, and basically say good-bye to Trevor Ariza, this is power move by the Lakers, they really beef up on defense……..but let’s remember we are talking about Ron Artest you don’t know what the big bright lights of L.A. will do to him.

The Celtics………They are rumored to be courting Rasheed Wallace, apparently The Big Three,Doc Rivers, and Danny Ainge all attended a meeting to entice Rasheed to come to Boston…..another power move by the Celtics, if Rasheed has a good time in Boston it could entice certain future free-agents(from Detroit) to come and play and have a chance to earn a ring.

The Cavaliers……..They picked up Shaq and are looking to conquer the East, some would say that it’s a risky move because of chemistry issues……..Shaq might want to choreograph some routines but isn’t that LeBron’s job??……..what if  Delonte & Mo get jealous because LeBron is spending more time with Shaq???

The Pistons…….Joe Dumars made some serious noise when he signed free-agents Ben Gordon, and Charlie Villanueva, to join the Pistons, this gives the Pistons a nice team, but once again it takes time for guys to gel and establish chemistry……and let’s not forget at the time of this post Detroit still doesn’t have a coach.
