Tiger fires his Caddie

Tiger Woods former caddie Steve Williams said Thursday that he lost respect for his partner of 12 years when details of the golf superstar’s repeat adultery emerged….The New Zealander, 47, made no public judgement as he stood by the 14-time major champion when he apologized for his widespread infidelities 18 months ago.

But a day after Woods made the surprise announcement that he had parted ways with Williams, the bagman admitted that he, too, saw golf’s phenomenon in a dimmer light.

“Well, I think when you’re great friends with somebody and a situation like this occurs, you obviously lose some kind of respect,” Williams told CNN affiliate Mediaworks.

Williams was unhappy to have been dropped by Woods and felt the decision was scant reward for his loyal service.

“I’ve stuck by him through and through,” Williams told 3 News. “Now he decides things aren’t going well for him, and I’m down the road, so the timing’s very disappointing.”

He suggested that Woods would need to work hard to rebuild their friendship.

“First of all, the person has to gain your respect, and that’s something that I feel Tiger has to work hard on,” he added, while confirming he will choose his words carefully when he comes to tell his side of golf’s most famous modern partnership.

“You know, when I write my book, it’ll be the time I decide what I write,” Williams said. “It’ll just be one of those interesting chapters in the book.”

Woods named no replacement during his announcement Wednesday confirming his split from Williams.

Tiger pulls out!!

Tiger Woods withdrew after nine holes at The Players Championship on Thursday because of leg injuries that sent him limping off the course toward a future that is murkier than ever.

Woods shot a 42 on the front nine, walking some 20 yards behind his playing partners and with a limp that became more noticeable with each hole he played.

After taking a bogey on the par-5 ninth, he handed his card to PGA champion Martin Kaymer, then walked back to inform Matt Kuchar that he was leaving early for the second straight year.

”I’m having a hard time walking,” Woods said.

It was his first competition since the Masters, where Woods said he hurt his left knee and Achilles while hitting from pine straw in the third round. He skipped the tournament last week to give his leg time to heal, and said Tuesday that it was better….”The knee acted up and then the Achilles followed after that, and then the calf started cramping up,” Woods said. ”Everything started getting tight, so it’s just a whole chain reaction.”

Woods looked fine when he played nine holes of practice on Tuesday and Wednesday, and said after the second day of practice that he had only ”minimal” swelling.

This is the second straight year Woods has withdrawn in the middle of the round at The Players Championship. He stopped on the seventh hole of the final round last year with what turned out to be a neck injury.

Woods already has had four operations on his left knee

Charl Schwartzel wins…but Tiger is the Big Story

Charl Schwartzel gave this Masters a finish it deserved.

On an amazing Sunday at Augusta National, where the roars came from everywhere and for everyone and didn’t stop until it was over, Schwartzel emerged from the madness by becoming the first Masters champion to close with four straight birdies.

His final putt from 20 feet curled into the side of the cup for a 6-under 66, the best closing round at the Masters in 22 years. It gave the 26-year-old South African a two-shot victory over Australians Adam Scott and Jason Day.

”Just an exciting day,” Schwartzel said. ”So many roars, and that atmosphere out there was just incredible. A phenomenal day.”

Tiger Woods provided some last-round heroics Sunday at the 75th Masters, shooting a 5-under 67 to finish 10 under for the tournament.

The four-time winner of the coveted green jacket was just one shot off the lead when he finished at 18.

“One back,” Woods said after coming in off the final green. “We’ll see what happens.”

Charl Schwartzel won when he finished at 14 under after birdieing the 18th hole.

Woods battled his way back from a seven-shot deficit heading into the final round to highlight an action-packed day at Augusta

Joseph Bramlett makes history….

On the final hole of the final round of the final stage of the PGA Tour’s qualifying school Monday, Joseph Bramlett delivered a putt that had him roaring, pumping his fist and high-fiving his caddie in celebration.

Sort of how Tiger Woods does it….The former Stanford standouts now have even more in common.

Bramlett earned a PGA Tour card, joining Woods as the only players on tour of black descent.

”It’s an honor. It truly is an honor,” the 22-year-old Bramlett said, soaking in the moment. ”Like I’ve said before, it’s been a long time. I’m just thrilled to see it start to change.”

Bramlett shot a 4-under 68 on the Crooked Cat Course at Orange County National, rallying from 33rd at the start of the day to make the cutoff for a tour card by two strokes. He finished 11 under at the grueling, six-round final stage of qualifying school to tie for 16th.

The top 25 scores and ties earned PGA Tour cards for 2011. The next 50 received cards on the Nationwide Tour.

”We’re popping the champagne, baby,” Bramlett’s father, Marlo, said by phone from San Jose, Calif. ”Unfortunately, he doesn’t drink. So we’ll give him a bunch of water bottles when he gets back.”

Woods wrote on Twitter: ”Congrats to Joe Bramlett for making it through Q School” and ”Amazing feat considering he sat out a whole year with wrist injury. Can’t wait to play with him next season.”

Golf…. is a 4 Letter word!!

Elin Nordegren, ex-wife of golf superstar Tiger Woods, received a payout of $110 million in their divorce settlement, …Nordegren and Woods finalized their divorce on Aug. 23, but the amount of the settlement was not disclosed until now… Earlier reports  in August suggested said Nordegren would get close to $100 million in the settlement.

Tiger Woods is reportedly worth as much as $500 million, but Nordegren “didn’t try to take him for every dime that she could.”

The couple separated after a confrontation last November over Woods’ affair with New York hostess Rachel Uchitel (and reportedly other women)….Woods entered a rehab program for sex addiction, where he reportedly admitted to affairs with several more women…..Woods reportedly paid Uchitel between $8 million and $10 million in April to prevent her from speaking to the press about their affair.

Nordegren and Woods share custody of their two children, 3-year-old daughter Sam and 20-month-old Charlie.
